Basketball update: Here is the schedule for the remainder of the week and into the break. Friday 12/18 vs Claude at HOME. Game times are at 6 for Varsity girls and 7:30 for Varsity boys. THERE ARE NO JV GAMES. Saturday 12/19 BOYS vs Tulia. JH B will play at 12, JH A will play at 1pm. JV will be at 2 and Varsity boys will be at 3:30. Tuesday 12/22 Girls will be HOME vs River Road. NO JV GIRLS GAME. Varsity girls will be at 6:15pm. The VARSITY boys will be playing TAHOKA in Lubbock. The game will be played at 4:00pm.

The Sunray Bobcats Ares X-plorers are the top winners for the ROADS on Mars competition. They competed with other robotics clubs across Texas last school term. Due to COVID, the program had to go virtual in its competition. NEESSP (Northwest Earth and Space Sciences Pipeline) and Texas Space Grant Consortium who sponsored the competition announced the winners yesterday. The SBAX team are: Kelley Turley (Commander); Sully Kimbrell (UAV Pilot); Justin Bain (EVA Officer); Kenneth Hughes (Science Officer); Brody Purswell (CAPCOM); Aallura Sharp (Recorder). We will learn at a later date what our team will receive from this award. Congratulations!

High School Basketball Update: On Friday 12/11 there will be no GIRLS JV game. Boys JV will start at 4:30 Girls Varsity will start at 6pm and Boys Varsity will follow the girls game. The boys will be playing Goodwell while the girls will be playing Groom. On Saturday 12/12 there will be NO JV GAME. Varsity girls will start at 12:30 and the boys will play at 2.This is at Wildorado and is a change regarding times so please post. On Tuesday 12/15 we will play at Valley and there will be no GIRLS JV. Boys JV will start at 5 with Varsity girls starting at 6pm and Boys varsity starting at 7:15.

This year looked a little different for All-Region auditions. Instead of meeting in person, our kiddos recorded and submitted their auditions for judging. We are so proud to say that out of the thirteen 8th graders that auditioned, eight of them made the All-Region band. Adamariz Mendoza, clarinet, placed 23rd, earning herself a spot in the Concert Band Jenny Castellanos, clarinet, placed 36th, earning herself a spot in the Concert Band Ivan DeLaRosa, trumpet, placed 5th, earning himself a spot in the Symphonic Band Kiara Salazar, trumpet, placed 8th, earning herself a spot in the Symphonic Band Mattie Strickland, trumpet, placed 12th, earning herself a spot in the Symphonic Band Rubi Velasco, trumpet, placed 18th, earning herself a spot in the Concert Band Jimena Alvarez, tuba, placed 2nd, earning herself a spot in the Symphonic Band Braxton Lodholm, percussion, placed 1st, earning himself a spot in the Symphonic Band Other students who auditioned and did Sunray proud were Connor Peteriet - clarinet, Havan Stephens - alto saxophone, Azriel Vargas - alto saxophone, Sye Boatmun - alto saxophone, and Kevin Bain - euphonium. Congratulations! We are very proud of you! Unfortunately, our students will not have the opportunity to play in an All-Region concert due to COVID restrictions.
