Letter Mr. Harrison received from the UIL:
Thank you for continuing to show tremendous leadership in this very challenging time. Your communities, and our state as a whole, are better because of your efforts and dedication to students.
With the recent order by Governor Abbott closing schools for the remainder of this school year, and in an effort to help protect the health and safety of Texans, all remaining UIL activities for the 2019-2020 school year are now cancelled. We understand the value of UIL activities to students and to your communities. However, UIL always keeps the health and safety of students as the top priority. We believe this very difficult decision is the best decision to support the health of our state.
Practices, rehearsals, and workouts remain suspended until further notice. The previously communicated information allowing remote instruction remains in place.
We will work closely with schools to determine the best course of action moving forward, including relaxing coaching restrictions in some ways to allow students to prepare for the coming school year. All of those decisions will be communicated out to schools once we have them finalized.
The times in which we find ourselves remain uncertain. UIL will continue to work closely with schools and state and local authorities as we continue to navigate our way through this unprecedented situation. Thank you for your patience during this time.
We wish all of you the very best in the coming days and months. Please stay safe and know that we are here to help in any way we can.
Thank you,
Charles Breithaupt, EdD
UIL Executive Director

MS Parents,
Monday, April 20th from 3-6 pm, we will have locker item pick up. We need all items picked up on Monday. Everything is bagged up in a plastic bag labeled with your student's name. There are several items that were found lying in the hallways, in lockers without names, the gym, etc. Items that do not have names will be placed on the picnic tables spread apart for you to claim. As I bagged up lockers and found items that belonged to the school (library books, dictionaries, athletic clothes, etc.), then I kept them and labeled them with your student's name.
If you have a personal band instrument, we will have those outside too.
If you have items at home that belong to the school, please keep those items somewhere safe. We will make a plan on how we will have you return those items (athletic clothes, library books, classroom books, etc.) at a later date, but please do not throw them away.
I hope you are all well! Please help your student get their work done and communicate with your student's teachers if you need help!

Students need to wait until Wednesday to log in to Edgenuity. They are working on technical issues with student accounts.

We would like the thank Plains internet, they have installed wireless internet at Greg Smith Memorial Park for students that do not have internet service in their homes. They will also be helping students outside of the city limits with hotspots for their homes.

Congratulations to Aukazia Ortega and Rylee DeBord! They were the first two to submit pictures and a brief description of how they helped a senior. Both SHS Seniors have won $250 in scholarship money.
Seniors there is still good news...
The contest will continue. Each time you send a picture and description of yourself helping a Senior Citizen, you will earn $10 in scholarship money. You can continue to earn until you reach $200. Aukazia and Rylee, you can enter this one, too, which means you could walk away with $450 each!
Students, once you have enrolled in college classes, print your schedule and take it to Sunray ISD's Central Office to request your check.
The first $500 was donated by Mr. Harrison. The remaining will be funded by the Sunray ISD Scholarship Fund. Thank you Mr. Harrison and SISD School Board for supporting our Seniors and Senior Citizens!
Good job to everyone who has submitted entries. Keep up the good work!

Mr. Harrison has released another live video on FB. Unless there are major changes this will be the last update until Tuesday 3/24 when we are able to meet with our staff members again.

SISD has made the decision to close our campuses until April 1st. Mr. Harrison has released a video on FB with more details. We will be updating the COVID-19 tab on the website along with the live feed on FB and Twitter as more information becomes available.

We have created a COVID-19 tab on our webpage and will be updating it as things change. You can also find the information on the parent app on the Live Feed or Documents tabs as well as Facebook and Twitter.

**Starting today 3/16/20 all school facilities including the outdoor athletic facilities will be locked up everyday after school until the UIL releases the suspension**

Mr. Harrison received the letter attached below. As of today 3/16/2020 all extracurricluar activities are suspended including practices until March 30, 2020.
School Administrators,
Thank you for your patience as we work to navigate this ever-changing and unprecedented situation. As the situation stands, all UIL contests are suspended through March 29 due to COVID-19. As new information is released, we will continue to make informed decisions and provide amended plans as we have them.
We have received several questions concerning rehearsals, practices and spring football. At this time, all rehearsals, practices and workouts conducted outside the school day, as well as spring football, are postponed until March 29. This means that no rehearsals, practices or workouts outside the school day can be conducted during the time period of March 16 through March 29.
In the case that spring football is canceled altogether, football workouts would resume on August 3rd and teams would be able to add an additional scrimmage.
As this is a rapidly changing situation, please look for future correspondence from UIL.
Thank you,
Jamey Harrison, EdD
UIL Deputy Director

The Governor has suspended all State Manadated Testing for this school year. Each day all Superintendents in the state are being briefed regarding the Cornovirus situation in Texas. As the situation change we will be posting updates daily to our social media sites. As of today Sunray ISD has no plans of extending Spring Break or closing school.

Mr. Harrison and all superintendents in Texas have received an email from the UIL stating that it is mandatory all UIL events are cancelled until March 30, 2020. All practice times will be released at a later date.
Once again this is mandatory by the UIL officials, it was not a decision made by Mr. Harrison

Spring Break is next week March 16th-20th.
Have a safe week and we will see everyone on the 23rd!

Another Schedule Change:
Canadian has moved the High School track meet to Thursday 3/12 due to weather. All High School track will be at Canadian. Varsity girls will no longer be traveling to Shallowater.
Jr. High Track meet has been cancelled.

The SISD Board meeting regularly scheduled for Monday March 9th has been rescheduled to Monday March 30th. There will also not be a board meeting in April they will combined the agendas with the March 30th meeting.

Good Luck to our OAP Students as they perform at West Texas High School today!

Softball games vs Claude on Friday 2/28 has been postponed due to Claude being in basketball playoffs. We will post new times and dates as soon as we get it.

Baseball games for 2/25/20 have been cancelled

Don't forget the Moore County Livestock show is this Thursday starting at 9am at the Dumas Community Building.
