2019 Bond Election



The Sunray ISD Board of Trustees has set their sights upon developing a state of the art Career and Technical Education Facility that will not only meet the needs of the students of Sunray ISD, but also be established to meet the needs of the adults within the community by offering industry certification classes to both students and adults as well as adult basic education classes.  In order to provide a career, college or military pathway for students of Sunray the district is also in talks with “Collegiate Edu-Nation P-20 System Model for 21st Century School Transformation.”  Superintendent Harrison, stated the following “ Our goal is for every student to leave Sunray with post-secondary hours as well with industry certification that will allow the student to either go straight into the world of work or have pathway to earn a living, while attending a post-secondary education, without having to acquire college loan debt.”  Harrison also added that “ We ask our voters to have an open mind to the bond as we release more information regarding the bond and to be reminded that through the restructuring of the school district’s taxing authority, if passed the district would be able is issue the bond without any tax rate increase to the taxpayers.”  If the bond passed the district will be offering certification classes, in culinary arts, cosmetology, drone flight, robotics, medical services, small gas engine, electrical, plumbing, automation, carpentry/architectural design, welding certification, Vet Tech, Plant/Soil Science, Horticultural/Floral Design and Child Development combined with a Day care Center.” Harrison stated also “That the seventy five percent  of the bond is to be used for Career and Technical Education, while twenty five percent of the bond will be directed toward construction of a secure entrance at Sunray Elementary school, security camera upgrades district wide, construction of new elementary PE area which will also will  serve as a tornado shelter for the elementary school and middle school, construction of new elementary music classroom, construction of new middle school band hall, replacement of existing sewer lines, and also complete renovation and addition to our Special Education classrooms to include an up to date ‘Life Skills Areas’.”    Over the course of the next several weeks the district has invited business owners in and around Sunray ISD to four identical Business Summits to discuss ‘School to Work Partnerships’, also the district will be presenting at meeting being held by area Farmers, Ranchers, and other Ag Industry businesses.  The district will be holding a Community Meeting on October 6, 2019 in the Sunray High School Auditorium at 3:00 p.m. in addition to the above listed meetings, the district each week is posting information through Facebook live video on the Sunray ISD Facebook page, hosted by Harrison and also information will be detailed on the ‘Bond 2019’ tab on the  district’s website at
